Background

FO-RUM links research projects grounded in political science and sociology, but also biology and law, into boundary-crossing forums and networks focused on strategic research areas.

FO-RUM emphasizes national, as well as international research co-operation. Apart from conducting research, FO-RUM also supports students at bachelors, masters and doctoral levels engaged in research relevant to FO-RUM´s goals.

An additional goal is to support interaction between research and the development of Swedish- and bilingual regions in Finland. FO-RUM seeks to act in accordance with the University Act regarding the university’s third task, outreach and community service, by mediating contact between practice in the field and research conducted at the University and in cooperation with national and international partners.
