Research at SSKH

National and local networks

A special focus in the research conducted at the Research Institute is on the Swedish-speaking population in Finland. The Research Institute has a broad interface with the Swedish-speaking and bilingual municipality sector which has resulted in a lively and fruitful interaction between the Research Institute and various local and national authorities in for example extended education and basic teaching in social welfare, evaluation research, research in the Swedish media in Finland, and the use of research at the Research Institute as a source of knowledge and information for decision-making.

The Nordic frame of reference is central for both education and research at the Swedish School of Social Science (SSKH). Nordic comparative research is still an important part of research at the Research Institute even though international cooperation at the European level has increased during the last decade. SSKH has also established a system of International Readers or guest professors in all the 5 main themes of research and education.
