IMISCOE - International Migration, Integration and Social Cohesion
What are the causes and nature of current migration processes? How can migration flows be managed and influenced? How can societies maintain social cohesion and societal viability? How can scientists, policy makers and practitioners in the field exchange knowledge and experience? Answering these kind of questions is what catalysed IMISCOE’s establishment and what continues to compel the Network’s raison d’être.
Migra-Nord - Nordic Research Network for Media, Migration and Society
The Migra-Nord network gathers junior and senior academics working in the interdisciplinary field of media, migration and ethnic relations in the Nordic countries. The network aims to promote collaboration among Nordic researchers by increasing publication opportunities, seminar exchanges, supervision of doctoral students and networking. Researchers participating in the network examine migration, ethnic relations and the media from various perspectives. The network has a board of national coordinators of each country and it is directed by PhD Karina Horsti.
Nordic Migration Research
International migration and ethnic relations are fundamental issues in Nordic societies today. They currently bring challenges to politics, policy making and academic research which need to be met with a multidisciplinary and international framework. Nordic countries vary in migrant numbers, countries of origin, years of residence, integration policies and public attitudes. The common Nordic ground and some demographical and historical differences however make research collaboration very rewarding.
HumanitarianNet (EDMIDI Migration Group)
HumanitarianNet was created as a network with the aim of analyzing the underlying causes of humanitarian crises and formulate appropriate strategies for rehabilitation and development through educational programmes. The underlying philosophy is based on the importance of continuing and strengthening the support of a network of universities, specialised research centres and inter-governmental and nongovernmental organisations engaged in the formation of students and professionals in the field of humanitarian development studies. The six thematic areas of the network are European identity and external relations, humanitarian action, human rights, migration, peace and conflict and poverty and development.
The mission of EDMIDI is to contribute to the co-operative creation, strengthening, and development of expertise and collaborative experience towards the consolidation of a European Area of Research in Migration, Diversity and Identities.
